I was born and raised right here in Grey-Bruce. I’ve spent almost thirteen years in the trades, and I hold a Red Seal 403A carpentry qualification — the interprovincial standard for the craft. In that time I noticed a pattern: the problems that ruin homes almost never start where you can see them. They start behind the drywall, under the slab, inside the wall assembly — exactly where the shortcuts get taken, because nobody’s going to notice on handover day.
In early 2021 I started Boulder & Beam to build the opposite way. The science of how a building manages air, water, and heat is where long-term performance is won or lost, so that’s where we put the obsession — the preparation, the structure, and the hidden layers that keep a home dry, efficient, and comfortable for decades. Anyone can make a finish look good for a photo. We build for the decade after.
Along the way I’ve added a Part 8 septic installation licence and I’m working toward Passive House Consultant/Designer certification, because the standard should keep rising. When you work with us, you get that standard — and a straight answer, every time you ask.
